Winners - Shortlists- Canadian Book Awards - Literary Prize Results- All Genres

The Saskatchewan Young Readers’ Choice Awards – the Willow Awards – are granted annually to the authors of Canadian children’s books voted by students as the best of those nominated in the designated categories. The Diamond Willow Award is granted for books suitable for grades 4-6. In order to be eligible for the award, books must be authored by a Canadian but not necessarily published in Canada. The winner receives a specially commissioned piece of artwork by a Saskatchewan artist at the annual SaskEnergy Willow Awards Presentation Gala that is held at the end of May or beginning of June.

Ten-year-old Marty and his best friend Remi are a very resourceful pair. In a school filled with bullies, they always have each other's backs. When graffiti is discovered on school property, they are determined to get to the bottom of things - until Remi is blamed and a misunderstanding puts a chill on the boys' friendship. Forced to team up with his nemesis, Trina, Marty will have to use all of his skills and ingenuity to find the real culprits, clear Remi's name, and win back the trust of his only friend. In the process Marty may just find some new friends in unexpected places.

Marty Chan is a nationally known dramatist, screenwriter and author. He won the 2005 City of Edmonton Book Prize for this juvenile novel, The Mystery of the Frozen Brains, and was Gemini-nominated and gold-medal winner for The Orange Seed Myth and Other Lies Mothers Tell. His Canadian play Mom, Dad, I’m Living With A White Girl continues to tour internationally

Shortlist for the $25,000 2011 CHARLES TAYLOR PRIZE for literary non-fiction

At a news conference at Toronto's Le Meridien King Edward
Hotel, Noreen Taylor, prize founder and chair of the Charles Taylor Foundation,
announced the 2011 finalists. The jury — composed of authors Neil Bissoondath (Québec
City), Eva-Marie Kraller (Vancouver), and David Macfarlane (Toronto) — read 153 Canadian-authored books, submitted by 44 publishers from across North America. The finalists are:
